  • I just found out how to solve one of my long-standing pet peeves with Firefox: the annoying bell sound you hear when you are using find to search within a page, and the text you searched for isn't present. The bright red box with the text next to it that says "not found" gets the point across... playing the sound also is just... trifling. It can be disabled by typing "about:config" in the address bar, which will pull up Firefox's advanced settings. Then filter down to the option "accessibility.typeaheadfind.enablesound" and double-click it to set it to false. Then restart Firefox, and voila! Unfortunately for me, the damage is done. I was working on a pretty intricate piece of code, and I was searching the data being returned by a service (with headphones on) and the bell startled me out of my train of thought. grrr. That little browser is badass...its faster than any other browser i've used (including Safari), parses Javascript MUCH faster (im using one of the v10 nightly builds) and its better overall in memory utilization, even with lots of tabs open and having been running for awhile. #

  • Updated my iPhone 3G to IOS 4.1. Very upset about it.... the phone was refusing to charge even when plugged in, and I was advised that updating the OS would fix that. I had doggedly stuck with 3.0.1, to keep the free tethering, but decided it was time to let it go. This better work... #
